SalonRecords FAQ
SalonRecords is a tool to run your business — not a place where your clients are sent to shop for someone else.
Your Business. Your Clients. Your Workflow.
We build the operating tools behind the relationship. We do not sell placement against you, advertise competitors to your customers, or turn your client experience into a public marketplace.
What is SalonRecords?
SalonRecords is business operating software for independent stylists and salons. It is designed to manage client information, appointments, service history, formulas, notes, payments, team access, documentation, and salon workflows in one connected system.
Is SalonRecords a salon directory or marketplace?
No. SalonRecords is not a salon listing page, marketplace, ranking site, review directory, or lead-generation network. It is a private business tool used to run your own salon or stylist operation.
Will you advertise other salons or stylists to my clients?
No. We do not use your BookYourStylist client experience to promote competing salons, nearby providers, sponsored listings, or other participating stylists. Your clients should stay focused on the business they came to see.
How does BookYourStylist fit in?
BookYourStylist is the client-facing side of your business. Clients can use your branded BookYourStylist address for services, booking, registration, account access, messaging, and other enabled features. SalonRecords is the professional system behind that experience.
Can I keep my own salon name and branding?
Yes. The client experience is designed to feel like an extension of your own business. BookYourStylist presents your business identity rather than placing you inside a generic provider directory.
Who owns client information on the Salon Tier?
The salon owner controls the salon's client ownership policy. Client relationships can be Salon-owned, Stylist-owned, or set so the Owner Decides case by case. Salon-owned is the recommended default for salons that want client records to remain with the business when a stylist leaves.
Who owns formulas on the Salon Tier?
Formula ownership is a separate salon policy. The owner can choose Salon, Stylist, or Owner Decides. A salon may choose to retain both client records and formulas, or use different ownership rules for each.
Does viewing a client or formula mean a stylist owns it?
No. Access and ownership are separate. A stylist can be allowed to view or edit a salon-owned client or formula without gaining ownership of that record. Historical authorship can also remain attached to the stylist who created the formula or service record.
Can salon owners control what team members can see and do?
Yes. Salon Tier is being built around salon membership, roles, and permissions. Owners can control team access to salon-wide clients, appointments, formulas, services, schedules, reports, settings, payments, and other administrative functions.
What happens when a stylist leaves a salon?
The stylist can be deactivated without deleting history. Salon-owned clients, formulas, appointments, service records, and other historical information remain with the salon, while the departing stylist's salon access is removed according to the salon's policies.
Who is the platform designed for?
SalonRecords is being built for independent stylists, salon-suite professionals, studio owners, and salons that want better operational tools while keeping control of their own business identity, data relationships, and workflow.
Do I have to replace every tool I already use?
No. The goal is to be flexible. During onboarding we can review the systems you already use and decide what should stay, what SalonRecords can replace, and where integrations make sense.
What is the Founding Beta offer?
The first five approved stylists in the Founding Beta receive six months of SalonRecords + BookYourStylist platform access free beginning when their beta account is activated. The group is intentionally small so real business feedback can shape the product.
How do I apply?
Create a SalonRecords account and submit your profile. We will review the registration, contact you for onboarding information, and set up your SalonRecords portal and BookYourStylist business experience.
